COSRX Advanced snail 96 mucin power essence review for Indian skin 

Korean skincare products' popularity in India peaked during the COVID-19 lockdowns and stayed peaked for a couple of years. CosRx Snail Mucin essence was like the gateway product for any Korean skincare lover and the most hyped Korean skincare product that was spotted on Instagram reels and TikTok videos. 

So many Indian brands and even Korean brands made products with Snail Mucin after this ingredient was received so well and was loved by everyone around the globe and in India. 

Essences are almost at the same step as toners and for me, it took some time to get used to switching the type of product. I have been using the CosRX snail mucin for some time now regularly and have been using it for a year almost on and off. 

I stayed regular at using this keeping this review in mind and to be a fair judge of the product. I honestly have mixed feelings, let's get into that with the review 

COSRX Advanced snail 96 mucin power essence review for Indian skin 

Product - 

The COSRX snail mucin is made up of natural snail secretion filtrate and this is 96% of the product composition. Snail mucin is said to have properties to help skin gain clarity and elasticity and 96% of the product is targeted towards the same. There is Hyaluronate and panthenol as ingredients in the rest of the 4% of the Snail mucin essence which helps further in Hydration and calming the skin. There is no fragrance in the product which I adore, as that freaks me out. 

This clear gel-like product is perfect as an essence due to its light texture and fast absorption, the colourless gel is mostly due to the presence of the snail secretion. The natural property of the snail mucin is to be slightly sticky and it makes for a fun application because of this sticky property.

The Cosrx essence is easy to use as the essence step after washing your face and before any serums or moisturizer, but I tend to leave out any serums after using this. This takes 1 minute but it gets absorbed well in that minute leaving no sticky feel on the skin.

This product is not suitable for anyone with a vegan lifestyle, even though COSRX is a cruelty-free brand and they don't test on animals, this product is an animal byproduct.

Packaging - 

The Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 mucin power essence has a premium, minimal and clean brand image associated with it and the brand stays true to it. The Product itself comes in a translucent bottle with a pump for the product dispensing and a cap to keep the pump safe. 

As of now, it is available in 100 ml packaging in India and the bottle itself comes in a box with all details provided for consumers.

My experience - 

Like I said earlier, I have mixed feelings. The Cosrx snail mucin essence gave me beautiful skin but also broke me out a couple times. I had this weird headache every time I used it in my AM routine. So I can't say I am sold on this completely but this has its benefits. I have majorly used it in my PM routines and can't comment on how it fares under makeup and sunscreen. 

This is what I got from using this product in my night time routine daily - 

 - Smooth skin on around 70% of my face 

 - Woke us with glowing yet non-oily skin every use 

 - Helped calm down very mild redness and irritation 

 - Works well with various serums {even though I prefer using this on its own}

 - Doesn't calm breakouts

 - No visible change on igmentation

 - Skin texture and pores improved visibly but not something drastic

Overall, I will keep using this, because I still need to see something drastic for my combination and sensitive skin apart from the glow in the morning after using the COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin power essence. But I would say definitely give it a try
